We took pictures at a golf course
It was the morning of November 24, 2020. I went straight to my mom’s house to get my makeup done by my sister for the big day and she surprised me with the sweetest makeup artist I have ever met and still till this day contact her for all of my major events. My nephew was sitting on my lap while she did my makeup and I was so grateful, it was such a nice surprise for my wedding day. My mom and sister also gave us a precious wedding gift bag filled with goodies for us both to enjoy. When I was on my way home, my fiancé was getting his hair cut and getting his equipment ready since he was our photographer for the day. We both got dressed and headed for court to sign.
All dressed in white, I was ready and so was he. We were ready to be together for the rest of our lives. On our way to court, we listened to music and did some karaoke and took some selfies. When we got there, we walked inside, we waited to be called and we signed, sealed, delivered, we were each other’s forever from that day forward. We were hungry since it was still morning and had some breakfast near the golf course we’d later be taking pictures at.
Then, it was photoshoot time and did we have a blast! Between him setting up the camera and tripod and me choosing positions we’d pose in, we made a great production team. We were silly all the way through, we’d stop breathing every time the timer went off and posed! After the golf course, we walked around the neighborhood and ended up in front of a beautiful vintage church.
We took some more pictures and did them very quickly as we didn’t want to get into any trouble for taking them outside. We then walked across the street, we were at another golf course but this one was located at the Biltmore Hotel. We took some more pictures there and decided to record ourselves dancing with no music. Till this very day, it is one of my favorite videos of all time. There is joy, laughter, fun and vulnerability in every second that we’re holding each other’s hands, looking into each other’s eyes and dancing as if the world had paused for us to share the stage together.
We didn’t think we’d take all day long to take pictures together. But sunset had arrived and we left to go eat something after a full day of running on breakfast only. We went to our favorite place for pizza, pasta, whiskey and wine: Casa Tua. It’s the place we last had dinner in before everything closed down, it was also the place where we went for dinner after work and no one knew about us, and the secret we were holding was ours and that of the restaurant’s.
We hit the world once again with another spontaneous event. We were now married and everyone found out after our pizza date. That same week was Thanksgiving and our families were together for the occasion. Then it was our first holiday as husband and wife. The previous holidays we were just talking, flirting, texting, going out, trying something new, giving love a chance. Here we were a year later, married and celebrating the New Year together. We didn’t have a chance for a honeymoon right after our court wedding, but we took a mini vacation the first weekend of the year of 2021. We went to the Key’s. I had never been to the Key’s before and since that weekend, it just became our favorite getaway location. We were in love, in awe of each other, being tourists and loving every second with each other. I am not going to tell you every day that we’ve spent together has been easy, because it certainly wasn’t sometimes. We were still strangers to an extent because we had never been together, never gone on a date before, we only fell in love out of chemistry, connection and communication. However, every day that we find differences in a variety of topics or in ourselves, we learn a new way to love each other regardless of that difference. We learn how to move along without trying to change the other person. And at the end of it all, we always choose each other. We hope that someday we’re able to get married how we imagined it and celebrate with our families the way we want to. I can’t wait for the day we both see our baby girl showering the aisle with flowers and celebrating her parent’s union by her side. The Key’s was the last trip we had alone. It was the trip before we became a family. And it will forever hold a special place in our hearts. On our way back from the Key’s we had no clue, we were about to get on the wildest rollercoaster ride, of our lives.
